Verified against the state record
Anyone can check this in about thirty seconds, and you should. Every line came off the California State License Board record on September 17, 2026.
The record carries no additional status line, no suspension, no bond cancellation date and no disclosable complaints. Three things in it are worth saying plainly. The license was issued in 1985 and is active today, and the 2024 date is the business becoming an LLC, not a new license: the board still shows March 1, 1985 as the issue date and as Dave Ormonde’s association date. There is a $100,000 employee and worker bond on top of the ordinary $25,000 contractor’s bond, and a real workers’ compensation policy running to January 2027, which together mean employees and payroll rather than one man with a truck. And the trades listed on that policy are carpentry, which is the paperwork agreeing with a customer who praised the eye for detail on a one-of-a-kind home.
A note from the person who built this
Dave, you don’t know me. I’m Matthew, and I build websites for contractors on the Central Coast. I built this one before asking, because it is easier to look at a real page than to listen to a pitch.
Here is what I noticed, and it is the whole reason I picked you. Your Google listing is missing three things at once. Where the website goes, it says “Add website”. Underneath that it says “Own this business?”, which means nobody has ever claimed it. And your hours are blank. So the only thing on the internet carrying your name is a page you do not control, and it is the first thing a homeowner finds.
Claim it either way. That part is free, it takes about ten minutes, and it is worth doing whether or not you ever reply to me. An unclaimed listing can be edited by strangers, and you cannot fix the hours or add a link until it is yours.
What struck me about your record. Forty-one years on one license number is rare, and I have now looked at a lot of them. Most of what I see is five years old, or a license that lapsed and got picked back up. Yours was issued in 1985 and is still active, and you took out a $100,000 employee bond in 2024, which is not what someone winding down does. That is the whole page, really.
I’ll be straight about what this page does not have. There is not a single photograph on your listing, not one, so there is not a single photograph here. I am not going to fill a builder’s page with stock pictures of somebody else’s houses. It is built out of the two things you do have, which are your license record and what your customers wrote, and the colors are chosen rather than taken from your own material, because there is no material to take them from. Photographs of your own finished work are the single biggest thing missing, and they would change this page more than anything else I could do to it.
Everything here came from public sources: your record from the state and your reviews. Nothing is stock and nothing is invented. The quotes are word for word. If a detail is wrong, it is wrong because I read it wrong, and I’d want to know.
$950 flat if you want it, live in about a week on your own domain, and you own everything: the domain, the files, all of it. If it is not for you I will take it down, no hard feelings.
